Masahiro Kobayashi, Head of Corporate Sustainability Unit at Yusen Logistics Global Management Co., Ltd., participated in a roundtable discussion at "Drive the Shift" hosted by Scania Japan Ltd., held at the Nordic Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan on October 10th. He shared the Yusen Logistics Group's integrated sustainability and corporate strategy.
The event, themed "How do we drive the shift toward a sustainable mobility future," featured roundtable discussions with participants from the transport, retail, and infrastructure sectors. Attendees engaged in open dialogue on the challenges and possibilities of sustainable transport, the commercial potential of decarbonization, and its impact on consumers.
As a transport operator, the Yusen Logistics Group utilizes sustainable fuels ⁽*⁾ for its land freight in some countries and regions, generating environmental values. For air and ocean freight forwarding services, the group also procures greenhouse gas (GHG) savings through a blockchain-secured digital platform, branded as "Alternative Fuel." This green solution also supports customers in achieving Scope 3 emissions reductions.
Through this platform, customers can monitor key details ― including the location and type of alternative fuel consumed, and the amount of GHG emissions reduced. In addition, Yusen Logistics provides customers with a GHG emissions reductions certificate verified by a third-party certification organization ensuring transparency and credibility.
As a sustainable solutions provider, we are committed to delivering high-quality services and building a global supply chain with low GHG emissions. Moving forward, we will continue to address challenges through our business by connecting stakeholders and collaborating to realize a sustainable society.
⁽*⁾Fuels derived from renewable resources, including non-edible plants, and used cooking oil, instead of fossil fuels such as oil and coal.
